Bliss-Stick Kayak Demos @ Hometown Throw Down- 5/30/2009

This Saturday (May 30, 2009) @ 2:00 P.M. is the kick off for the 2009 Tri-Cities Nolichucky Hometown
Thowdown and we want to make sure that everyone knows that there will be a fleet of Bliss-Stick Kayaks available to demo at
the event site.
There will be Smoothy's, RAD's, SCUD's and Specialist. One of them will be to your liking!
They
have had to make a high water contingency plan, due to all the Thunderstorms we have been receiving in our region and the
surging level of the Noli. Due to safety concerns they will not have the Hometown Throwdown at Jaws if the River level is
greater than 3,000 cfs on Saturday morning (8 A.M. gauge reading or after).
Instead they will move the Throwdown
back to Big Rock and have Event #1 on the feature known as Oatmeal (river right ledge adjacent to Big Rock). This is what
Oatmeal looks like.
So depending on the level they will still have registration between 1:00-2:00 P.M. @ the feature determined
by the river level gauge reading after 8 A.M. on Saturday morning. They will kick off the event at 2:00 P.M. with the competitors
meeting.

Bliss-Stick Agent Jake Gosnell Checks In

These pictures were sent in from Jake Gosnell. He is one our newest agents in NY state. He got a few
people out this weekend to demo the boats and to show them off. Could not think of a better way to spend Memorial Day weekend,
than on the river.
Here are some pictures of his sister Emma Gosnell at the T-Ville wave in CT and Chris on the Bulls
Bridge section of the Housitonic.
If you are in the area, and want to demo a boat from Jake's fleet, make sure to
contact him immediately.

Reno River Festival Update- Bliss-Stick Team Member Seth Stoenner

Bliss-Stick Team paddler, Seth Stoenner, checks in after he seals 3rd place in the juniors in his Bliss-Stick Specialist!
Seth is now in Glenwood Springs, Colorado gearing up for the US Team Trials, May 30-31st 2009!
Good Luck
Seth and thanks for the update...
Hey Michael,
This year the Reno River festival was great! The previous year I took 2nd
place in the open division, which got me invited to the invitational comp! I got there 2 days before the competition and got
some good practice in.
We had very good flows this year making the whole somewhat
deep. Alot of people were hitting bottom when pluging loops, but the Specialist's volume in the knee area kept me from ever
hitting bottom.. I ended up taking 3rd place, behind Jason Craig, and then Dane Jackson. It was good time and I will most
likely be going back there next year!
Meanwhile, in Boise, the Payette
river is going off, bringing us an epic surf wave called the Bladder. The past couple days have been so sick. Good training
for team trials next weekend. Me and my brother will be heading to Colorado tommarow! It should be sick.
Here are a few photos from the Reno River fest and a surf spot called Climax on the Payette.

White Top Laurel with Bliss-Stick Agent Jason Bordwine

We have been getting quite a bit of rain here in the Southeast and the rivers have been flowing quite
nicely. Our Virginia agent has been getting it done with friends on the White Top Laurel, which is a classic Virginia run,
that follows along the Virginia Creeper Trail. Plenty of good drops and a nice trail that can be used for shuttle or walking
back up for the second or third run.
If you are in the area and want to experience paddling a Bliss-Stick make sure
to contact Jason!
Here they are in action...

Another Satisfied Customer..

Yesterday we got a visit from long time friend and paddling buddy, Pete Pickering. He traveled from
West Jefferson, NC to pick up his brand new Yellow/Black Mystic. As soon as he pulled it from the bubble wrap, he was adjusting
the seat and bulkhead making it ready for the river immediately.
If you see Pete on the Linville, Watauga or other
High Country, NC runs, make sure to stop and ask him how he likes the Mystic. Then you should watch him paddle it.
Thanks
Pete.

New Bliss-Stick Smoothy Logo
We have been full on since the first container arrived, shipping boats all over the United States!
After examining
all the boats in the first container, one of the first things that we noticed is the change in the Smoothy's artwork.
All
of the Smoothy's use to look like the picture below:

But it seems that the creativity at the plant has been tapped into to produce this fine looking new
piece of art...

This new art will come standard on all Smoothy's, starting in 2009. We still have a couple Smoothy's
left in this first container, with 20 more on the next container, that is on the water now. The contents of the second container
can be seen on the homepage of WakaWai.
