Stand Up Paddling - North Carolina Outer Banks- Sandy Bay to Slash Creek Loop

Just got back from 10 days on Hatteras Island of the OBX of North Carolina stand up paddling and wanted
to share some pictures and a trip report. We paddled Sandy Bay to Slash Creek, about a 5 mile paddle that loops through the
village of Hatteras. The best thing about this flat water paddle is that once you get back to the parking area, you can cross
NC 12 and head straight out for some surf that the OBX are known for. Which was great. An offshore wind came in later that
day and made for some nice clean waves, perfect for the Original YOLO. 'Sandy Bay is located in between Hatteras
and Frisco. The pace of life in the Hatteras village is a lot slower than the rest of the OBX. The village is home to some
of the best charter fishing in the world and is surrounded by salt marshes and bisected by several creeks. The biggest creek,
Slash Creek, leads you to downtown to the village and crosses under NC 12. This is an amazing area to paddle, with crystal
clear water, lots of marine wildlife, birds and some remote beaches that you can only get to by paddle boards, due to the
depth of the water. Also a great place for clamming. No direct tidal influence, however the wind can cause the water depth
to fluctuate.'

Team Bliss-Stick, Jason LaSelva, Button Falls

Hey everybody. Recently we’ve had some rain in the great Northeast
which has brought up some runs not normally available to us in July. Myself and some of my friends traveled over to Vermont
to session a relatively small, but technical, waterfall—Buttons Falls. Buttons Falls is located about 8 miles upstream
from the actual put-in for the Mettawee River. It has a sketchy entrance rapid that can send you too far to the right-towards
the rocks at the bottom of the drop-making the falls way more interesting. In the photos you’ll see that I’m
hitting the seam that pushes me to the left side of the falls and away from the rocks. There is also an eddy right above
Buttons Falls which allowed us all multiple runs. The Mystic made this drop easy and safe. I never once back-endered or
resurfaced out of control. This is truly a great creeker and I’m stoked every day I’m out there in it. Bliss-Stick Team USA: Jason LaSelva

Garrett Boop, Maryland Chute Out, Bliss-Stick Specialist
Here are some pictures from
the June Maryland Chute Out. The event was held at Portage Hole on the Potomac River just down river of Great Falls. I was
the only competitor in the A class that wasn't paddling a Jackson Kayak. I placed 4th out of 7 competitors in my Specialist
(most of the kayakers in the A class are sponsored by Jackson Kayak and are instructors). It felt like the Specialist with
its short but high volume design was made for this feature....great boat.

West Cherry, Salmon River Gorge, Green Truss and Little White Salmon!
Hey Michael, Just recently got back from a good trip of creek boating in California, Oregon, and Washington!
Originally we were planning to go do upper cherry in California but while we were there, the flows were way to high to go
in.. so we decided to run West Cherry, which flows into Upper Cherry. It was a super fun over nighter.. The first day we hiked
in about 7 miles or so and then paddled a couple sweet gorges down to our first camp. The next morning we woke up and started
off the day with a really fun rapids, consisting of fun slides and waterfalls. After we got off West Cherry, we headed up to Oregon to run Salmon River Gorge. This a really fun run that makes for
a long day.. We woke up early and started hikin about 9am for 6 miles and finally got to the put in. We started off the run
with a sweet, clean 20 footer. We then came up to vanishing falls. A 25 footer that lands in a really bad cave. We all portaged
that one with a throw and go. The next rapid was frustration falls, a really fun series of drops starting with a 20 footer,
then a 15 foot boof, then a clean 40 footer. Super fun.. Right after that you have another nice 20 footer, then final falls.
A really big 80 footer that no one fired up.. I has a really tricky lip that looks like it would be impossible to not be autoboofed.
We repelled down on the right. The day after that we crossed the Columbia
River into Washington and ran the Green Truss and Little White. They were both super fun, the little white being my favorite.
It is just non stop, steep, technical, boulder gardens with a couple sweet waterfalls. I love the town of Hood River! -Seth .jpg)
